For most plug-ins up from the latest versions, the installation should be quite straight forward.
(For older versions the installation methods are included in the readme file inside the zip)
After you purchased your plug-in from the Gumroad site and downloaded the included zip.
Locate the appropriate version you have for your Maya.
For example ShellMod (v2.04) have these versions included:
- osx_2016.5 (extension 2)
- win_2016.5 (extension 2)
So if you have the latest 2017 Windows version of Maya you should copy the contents of win_2017 into your users / plug-in directory.
Usually, your users plug-in directory for your Maya version is located under (2017 example):
If you there is no plug-ins directory at the location just create on there.
Do not install the plug-in directly into your Program-Files (c:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2017\plug-ins\ for example)
Make sure the plug-ins is visible and Loaded (turn on Auto Load too) in the Maya Plug-in Manager (Windows/Settings/Plug-In Manager).
Once the plug-in is loaded, a CreativeCase shelf should pop up, with the icons inside for the plug-in (Shellmod example).
If you are upgrading from an older version of the plug-in, be sure to backup your work/plug-in before upgrading. For best compatibility, remove all plug-in/script/icon files from the previous install.
If you have project files that have an older version of the nodes in them, it is advised to start from a clean project for the best compatibility.
Errors during install:
